India’s top airline is implementing a number of steps to ensure a seamless transition for its passengers as it gets ready to formally combine with Vistara on November 12, 2024.

Beginning on November 12, about 115,000 passengers with Vistara tickets will begin flying with Air India. Passengers will still have access to Vistara’s in-flight experience notwithstanding the merger.

To make it easier for customers to identify the flights, Vistara aircraft will now have unique Air India flight codes that all start with “2.” For instance, Air India’s AI 2955 will replace Vistara’s UK 955. These new codes may be seen on the Air India website, where passengers can make flight reservations.

What to anticipate from the merger is as follows:

The same Vistara experience with the branding of Air India

Under Air India’s name, travelers will still be served by familiar Vistara crew members on Vistara flights with the same itineraries, schedules, and in-flight amenities.

New Assistance Initiatives at Indian Airports

In order to facilitate the procedure, Air India will offer:

Help Desk Kiosks: Installed in strategic airports to assist passengers.
Customer service representatives: Employees wearing “How may I assist you?” t-shirts who are on hand to answer any queries.
Transitions for Check-in and Ticketing: Air India counters will gradually replace Vistara check-in terminals and ticketing counters.
Self-Service Kiosk with Clear Instructions: Passengers will be guided by updated kiosks that display messages such as “Please select Air India for check-in for Vistara flights under AI2 code.”

Extra Help for Foreign Passengers

To direct Vistara customers to the proper check-in facilities at international airports, Air India would post signage and station support employees wearing branded T-shirts.

To guarantee that clients receive all the help they require, calls to Vistara’s contact center will also immediately connect to Air India’s support staff.

Transferring Air India’s Loyalty Benefits

Approximately 4.5 million Vistara loyalty members have joined Air India’s program, and over 270,000 Vistara customers have already been transferred to the airline’s system. Through codeshare and interline partners, this merged program opens up extra perks and connections to more than 90 locations across the globe.

Upgrades to the Fleet for a First-Class Experience

With six new A350 aircraft now linking Delhi with London and New York, Air India’s fleet is undergoing a major makeover. Additionally, its fleet of A320neo aircraft will be upgraded with:

Eight seats in business class
There are 132 cozy economy seats and 24 premium economy seats with more legroom.

The in-flight experience will be improved by renovated interiors with ambient lighting, plenty of legroom, and modern amenities including PED holders and USB ports (Type A & C).

The goal of Air India’s merger is to provide a smooth, top-notch flying experience while preserving Vistara’s best qualities inside the combined airline
