Noida: In the wake of the recent tragic fire incident in Goa, fire safety and excise authorities have launched a rigorous inspection drive across bars, restaurants, and pubs in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The initiative aims to ensure that safety protocols are strictly adhered to and to prevent a repeat of such devastating events locally.

A total of 102 establishments, including prominent chains like Romeo Lane and popular venues in Garden Galleria, are being scrutinized for compliance with fire safety and licensing standards. On Monday, officials inspected 38 bars and clubs in Garden Galleria, Sector-38, checking fire safety certificates, bar licenses and other mandatory documentation. The condition of fire-fighting equipment and emergency preparedness measures was also examined.

Authorities reported that venues found lacking in compliance have been issued immediate directives to rectify deficiencies.

We are conducting thorough ground-level inspections of all clubs, hotels, restaurants, and pubs. The findings on fire safety standards and NOCs will be submitted to senior officials for further action.

However, the increasing use of electronic firecrackers has raised additional alarms. Sparks from these devices can trigger fires, yet current regulatory oversight appears insufficient. Unrestricted sales of such products in the market are further elevating the risk.

Gautam Buddh Nagar, home to numerous IT firms, industrial units and educational institutions, witnesses heavy weekend footfall in bars and restaurants. Recent incidents have underscored the urgent need to reassess and strengthen safety standards.

The inspections focus on several critical areas:

  • Clear and accessible emergency exits
  • Functionality and availability of fire-fighting equipment
  • Validity of fire safety NOCs
  • Crowd management systems
  • Maintenance of electrical and gas appliances

Through this campaign, authorities aim to prioritise customer safety and prevent tragedies before they occur, sending a clear message to establishments that compliance is not optional.
