Greater Noida: A 31-year-old man died after falling from the 21st floor of a residential tower at Centurion Park Tropical Garden Society in Greater Noida West on Monday evening. The deceased, identified as Harshit Lavania, lived alone in a rented flat in the society, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bisrakh police station.
According to police, Harshit worked at a private company and had married in 2024. However, differences reportedly developed between the couple soon after their wedding. His wife had been living separately for approximately six months.
Police suspect he slipped while attempting to move between floors
According to the preliminary account, Harshit’s wife arrived at his flat on Monday evening and knocked on the door. However, he reportedly did not open it despite her attempts to speak to him.
Police said his wife subsequently approached security personnel and attempted to get the door opened. During this time, Harshit reportedly came out through the balcony and tried to reach the floor below, apparently to leave without opening the main door.
He allegedly lost his footing and fell from the 21st floor.
Residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have not yet established the exact circumstances that led to the fall. The possibility that he slipped while attempting to move between floors is being examined as part of the investigation.
Family alleges he was under mental stress
Harshit’s father, Amitabh Lavania, and other family members reached the society after being informed about the incident.
According to the family, Harshit had been under considerable mental stress for some time because of the ongoing dispute with his wife. The circumstances surrounding the marital dispute and its possible connection to the incident are yet to be established by investigators.
Bisrakh police examine CCTV footage
Bisrakh police have initiated an investigation into the incident. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the society to establish what happened before the fall.
Police are also questioning Harshit’s wife and other people who may have information about the events leading up to his death.
A police officer said no complaint had been received in the case so far. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The exact sequence of events remains unclear, and the police investigation is underway.
