Western Railway will introduce a new local train timetable from September 1. Six services will be added, six withdrawn and several others will get route and timing changes

Mumbai News Update: Mumbai commuters on the Western Railway suburban network will have a revised local train timetable from September 1, 2026, with changes aimed at better matching services with passenger demand and improving the overall travel experience.
Western Railway currently operates 1,414 suburban services. The overall number of services will remain unchanged under the new timetable, even as some trains are added, withdrawn, extended or merged.
Six New Local Train Services To Start
According to a report in The Indian Express, Western Railway will introduce six new suburban services from September 1 – two Up and four Down services. The new services are:
- BYR-VR: Departs BYR at 7:46 am and reaches Virar at 8:12 am.
- BVI-BYR: Departs Borivali at 10:14 pm and reaches BYR at 10:30 pm.
- BVI-VR: Departs Borivali at 10:51 pm and reaches Virar at 11:33 pm.
- BVI-BYR: Departs Borivali at 12:28 am and reaches BYR at 12:46 am.
- BA-CCG: Departs BA at 11:58 am and reaches Churchgate at 12:30 pm.
- VR-BVI: A late-night service will leave Virar at 11:51 pm and reach Borivali at 12:26 am.
Six Existing Services To Be Withdrawn
Alongside the six new services, Western Railway will withdraw six existing suburban services under the revised timetable.
These are:
- BO94137
- BCL90359
- BO90483
- BCL90911
- BO94138
- BO90540
The withdrawn services include two AC Fast services and four other services operating on the Churchgate-Borivali and Borivali-Churchgate sectors.
More AC Local Services From September 1
The number of AC suburban services on Western Railway will increase from 145 to 147.
Two AC services have been added:
- CCG-BVI service BO94105: Departs Churchgate at 5:28 pm.
- BVI-CCG service BO94110: Departs Borivali at 6:24 pm.
The increase comes as Western Railway continues to expand AC local services to meet passenger demand. Indian Railways has also been adding rolling stock and increasing suburban capacity across Mumbai.
Some Local Trains To Get Longer Routes
The revised timetable will also extend the routes of some existing services. The VR92046, which currently leaves Virar at 8:23 am, will now run up to Churchgate. Another service, VR92069, will also be extended from Dadar to Churchgate.
Western Railway has also decided to merge the DDR-VR service 90677 and VR-DRD service 93033. The combined service will depart Dadar at 5:22 pm.
Some AC And Fast Locals To Skip Borivali
There will also be changes to halts on some services. The VR94113 AC service, which departs Churchgate at 6:22 pm and reaches Virar at 7:46 pm, will skip Borivali. Similarly, VR90791, departing Churchgate at 7:05 pm and reaching Virar at 8:27 pm, will also skip Borivali.
Another change concerns BO94029, an AC Slow service from Churchgate to Borivali. Under the revised arrangement, it will be extended up to Goregaon (GMN) before returning.
What Commuters Need To Know
The new timetable does not mean an overall increase or decrease in the number of Western Railway suburban services. Instead, WR has reworked existing services based on passenger demand, adding six new trains while withdrawing six others and modifying several routes and halts.
