NHRF Demands Immediate Fire Safety Audit, Announces Support for AOA Formation.

Noida: The recent fire incident at Aranya Society has triggered fresh concerns over the safety of thousands of families residing in incomplete and insolvency-affected housing projects across Noida and Greater Noida. The Noida Highrise Federation (NHRF) has termed the incident a serious wake-up call, urging authorities to prioritise the safety of residents living in such projects.

According to NHRF, many homebuyers are compelled to live in incomplete projects because they cannot afford the dual burden of paying both home loan EMIs and house rent. While legal and insolvency proceedings continue, the federation said residents’ safety should never be compromised.

Many Projects Still Lack Adequate Safety Measures

NHRF President Nikhil Singhal said several stalled housing projects continue to suffer from inadequate fire safety systems, poor maintenance and incomplete infrastructure. He also highlighted that in many such societies, the absence of a legally constituted Apartment Owners Association (AOA) leaves residents without an effective platform to raise concerns or hold stakeholders accountable.

“The Aranya fire is a reminder that safety cannot wait for legal or administrative processes to conclude. Residents deserve secure living conditions irrespective of the project’s financial status,” Singhal said.

Federation Seeks Comprehensive Fire Safety Audit

The federation has urged the Noida Authority, Fire Department and other concerned agencies to immediately conduct comprehensive fire safety audits of all incomplete and insolvency-affected residential projects. It has also called for all mandatory fire protection systems to be made fully functional at the earliest.

NHRF emphasised that protecting lives must take precedence over procedural delays and administrative complexities.

NHRF to Assist Residents in Forming AOA

Alongside its demand for stronger safety measures, NHRF has announced that it will assist residents of Aranya Society in forming a legally recognised Apartment Owners Association. Initial discussions with residents have already begun.

The federation said the formation of an AOA would provide residents with a statutory representative body capable of addressing issues related to maintenance, safety and essential civic services while ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the management of the society.

Call for Long-Term Resident Empowerment

NHRF maintained that incidents like the Aranya fire underline the urgent need for stronger governance and resident representation in stalled housing projects. The federation believes that alongside infrastructure improvements, empowering residents through a functional AOA is essential for ensuring safer and better-managed communities.
