Greater Noida West : The controversy surrounding the alleged financial irregularities at 11th Avenue, Gaur City-2, has intensified after a General Body Meeting (GBM) held on Sunday ended in chaos. Residents have accused the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of misleading society members by calling the meeting in the name of discussing a forensic audit report.

The latest developments come shortly after serious allegations related to financial irregularities surfaced in the society following a forensic audit ordered earlier by the Deputy Registrar.

Residents allege AOA misled society members

According to residents, the AOA had issued a notice about a week earlier stating that the GBM was being called to discuss a “negative financial forensic audit report”. Based on this notice, hundreds of residents from the nearly 2,000 flats in the society attended the meeting expecting clarity on the audit findings.

However, several residents claimed during the meeting that the AOA neither had a certified copy of the forensic audit report nor any official direction from the Registrar’s office to present it in the GBM.

This led many residents to question why the meeting was convened in the first place if the official report was not available.

The meeting atmosphere turns tense

The situation became tense soon after the discussion began. Some participants alleged that certain supporters attempted to surround and pressure residents who had raised complaints regarding the society’s financial management.

Residents present in the meeting

The resulting arguments and confrontations reportedly disrupted the proceedings and created a hostile environment, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the meeting.

Several residents said such incidents discourage participation in society meetings and weaken the democratic functioning of residential communities.

Questions raised over financial transparency

During the discussion, residents also raised concerns about financial transparency in society. According to them, the society’s treasurer has not yet shared financial reports for the last two quarters, further increasing doubts among residents about the management of funds.

Many residents expressed frustration, questioning why a meeting was called without having the official audit report and alleging that their time had been wasted.

AOA President calls audit report “incorrect”

During the GBM, AOA President Sachin Tyagi reportedly stated that the forensic audit report prepared by the auditing firm Vineesh Arora and Company was incorrect and that the AOA may file a complaint against the auditor.

The statement has further deepened the divide between sections of residents and the AOA, with both sides presenting conflicting claims regarding the authenticity and interpretation of the audit findings.

Residents seek urgent answers

Amid the growing controversy, several residents have demanded clear answers from the AOA on multiple issues related to the audit and ongoing society works. Residents say they urgently need clarification on the following questions:

  • On what basis is the auditor being termed “incorrect” when the audit has been conducted by a certified Chartered Accountant firm?
  • Does the AOA possess the engineer’s certification that the audit report reportedly mentions as missing? If it exists, residents have asked that it be publicly shared.
  • If financial irregularities were pointed out in the past, why is painting work currently being executed without a fresh tender when the Deputy Registrar’s order had directed the AOA to initiate a new tender process?
  • Why were all relevant documents allegedly not provided to the auditor during the audit process?

Residents argue that addressing these questions is essential to restoring trust and transparency in the functioning of society.

Residents demand accountability

With tensions continuing to rise in society, residents are now demanding greater transparency and accountability from the AOA. Many have called for proper disclosure of financial records and official documents related to the audit.

The issue has sparked intense debate within the society, and residents say they will continue to push for clarity on the financial management of the complex.

President unavailable for comment

Apartment Times attempted to contact the AOA president for his response on the matter. However, the calls were repeatedly disconnected. The story will be updated once his version is received.
