Greater Noida: While the Uttar Pradesh government continues to emphasise better infrastructure and development in industrial areas, the condition of a 500-metre stretch in Site-4, H-Block, raises serious questions over the ground-level implementation of these claims.
The road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), has reportedly been left in a severely damaged condition. Large potholes, stagnant water, mud and dust have made the stretch difficult to navigate for pedestrians and motorists.
Other Roads Developed, H-Block Stretch Left Neglected
According to local residents and shopkeepers, construction and development work has been completed on several other roads in Site-4. However, the approximately 500-metre stretch in H-Block continues to remain neglected.
Deep potholes filled with dirty water can be seen across the road, making it difficult for vehicles to pass and pedestrians to walk safely. During waterlogging, the condition reportedly becomes even worse.
Shopkeepers Claim Business Is Being Hit
Shopkeepers operating along the stretch say the poor road condition is affecting their businesses. Dust, mud and stagnant water have made access to the shops difficult for customers and workers.
Residents also claim that hundreds of people, including schoolchildren, workers and traders, use the road every day. The damaged stretch has increased the risk of slips, falls and vehicle-related accidents.
Questions Over UPSIDA Officials’ Inaction
According to the affected shopkeepers and residents, the matter has been brought to the attention of UPSIDA Senior Manager N.K. Jain several times, both verbally and in writing.
However, they allege that despite repeated complaints, no concrete action has been taken to repair or reconstruct the road.
The continued neglect of the stretch has now raised questions over the functioning of the concerned officials and the monitoring of infrastructure works in the industrial area.
Residents Demand Immediate Action
Local residents and shopkeepers have appealed to senior UPSIDA officials and the state government to take immediate cognisance of the matter. They have demanded an inspection of the road, accountability from the officials concerned and the early commencement of reconstruction work on the 500-metre stretch.
For the people who use the road every day, the demand is straightforward: repair the road before the deteriorating condition leads to a serious accident.
