Noida: The DDRWA Federation of Gautam Buddh Nagar has once again urged the authorities to immediately start public transport services in the district, stating that residents have been facing severe inconvenience due to the absence of a reliable city bus system.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officers of Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Authority, as well as the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, the federation highlighted that it has been continuously campaigning for the launch of an electric public transport system in the district for the past two years.

Federation pushing for electric city bus service

According to the federation, the campaign has been led by its president, Thakur N P Singh, along with the federation team. Their primary demand has been the introduction of an electrical public transport system in the form of city buses connecting different parts of the district.

As part of this effort, Thakur N P Singh had met Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh on December 28, 2025 and requested him to initiate public transport services in Gautam Buddh Nagar. During the meeting, the minister had reportedly assured that the public transport system would start soon in the district.

Meetings held with authorities

The DDRWA Federation also held meetings with officials of both the Noida Authority and the Greater Noida Authority to raise the issue. During these discussions, officials assured the federation that electric buses would be made available in the district within a month.

In continuation of this process, the Regional Manager of the Noida Transport Department also sent a letter to the DDRWA Federation seeking suggestions regarding bus routes for the proposed service.

Residents facing inconvenience

Despite these assurances and communications, the federation stated that the public transport service has not yet started in the district. Due to the lack of affordable public transport, residents are compelled to rely on private cab services such as Ola and Uber for daily travel.

The federation emphasised that the introduction of a city bus service would not only reduce travel expenses for residents but also significantly lower pollution caused by three-wheelers and private vehicles.

Warning of a major protest

The DDRWA Federation has now issued a strong appeal to the district administration and the three development authorities to begin public transport services connecting all cities and villages of Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The federation warned that if the public transport system is not launched by April 15, 2026, it will initiate a large scale agitation across the district.

The letter has been signed by N P Singh, President, and Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Vice President of DDRWA Federation, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
