
Noida: In a major push to make Noida a hub of innovation and high-tech research, Noida Authority and Gautam Buddha University (GBU) have agreed to work together to set up two world-class Centres of Excellence at the GBU campus.
These upcoming centres include:
Centre for Semicon Research and Technology (CSRT):
Focused on advanced semiconductor research and new technology development, a key area for India’s future growth.
Centre for Drug Discovery & Development:
A biotech research centre with an initial focus on developing new cancer treatments and breakthrough medicines. This collaboration is expected to boost Noida’s position as a top Research & Development destination and open new opportunities for skilled jobs and innovation.
A delegation from GBU met Dr. Lokesh M, CEO, NOIDA, to discuss the plan. The GBU team included:
Dr. Vishwas Tripathi (Registrar), Prof. Rajiv Varshney (Dean Academics), Dr. S. Dhanlakshmi (Dean, School of Biotechnology), Dr. Rekha Puria (HoD, Biotechnology), Dr. Vidushi Sharma (HoD, Electronics & Communications) and Dr. Mangal Das (School of Electronics & Communications).
Both sides will now finalize the funding arrangements and the revenue model to ensure the long-term success of these centres. This step is being seen as a big leap for the region bringing cutting-edge science, research excellence, and new industry opportunities to Noida.
