Noida : Who knew that spotting a dirty toilet on a national highway could earn you money? The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a new and unusual cleanliness incentive: report unclean toilets at toll plazas, and you’ll receive ₹1,000 credited directly to your FASTag account.

The scheme in detail

The initiative, announced as part of NHAI’s nationwide cleanliness drive, aims to improve hygiene standards across toll plazas. Under the scheme, valid reports of dirty toilets can earn highway users ₹1,000 in FASTag credit. Reports can be submitted via NHAI’s official Rajmargyatra mobile app until October 31, 2025.

How to participate

To claim the reward, users must:

  • Upload clear, geo-tagged and time-stamped photos of dirty toilets via the Rajmargyatra app.
  • Provide their name, location, vehicle registration number (VRN) and mobile number.

Once the submission is verified, ₹1,000 will be credited to the FASTag account linked to the reported vehicle number.

Key conditions

  • Each vehicle registration number can claim the reward only once during the scheme period.
  • Each toilet facility can receive just one reward per day, no matter how many users report it.
  • The scheme applies only to NHAI-maintained toilets facilities at petrol pumps, dhabas or other private locations are excluded.
  • Rewards are non-transferable and cannot be withdrawn as cash.

Verification process

All photo submissions will undergo AI-assisted screening along with manual verification to ensure authenticity. Manipulated, duplicate or previously reported images will be automatically disqualified.
