Greater Noida West: Residents of Supertech Ecovillage 1 are once again raising alarm over serious maintenance lapses, with recent reports of contaminated water, recurring safety hazards, and unresolved administrative issues despite a change in facility management.

Last week, a health camp inside the society treated over 110 people for symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) officials later confirmed the presence of coliform bacteria in water samples, imposing a ₹5 lakh fine on the builder’s management. Officials linked the contamination to poor cleaning and upkeep of water storage tanks.

This is not the first time Ecovillage 1 has been in the spotlight. In November 2024, residents successfully campaigned to replace the YG Facility Agency with the Gravity Facility after allegations of extortion, unaddressed repairs and inflated maintenance bills. However, residents claim the new agency has yet to resolve core infrastructure problems, with complaints of delayed services, surprise billing, and inadequate safety measures continuing.

Adding to concerns, the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board fined the project ₹13.8 lakh last year for excessive diesel generator emissions, citing environmental violations. Fire incidents have also been reported, the most recent in April, when a refrigerator compressor burst into flames in a kitchen. Residents allege the fire safety systems remain either non-functional or poorly maintained.

Community sentiment remains tense. On housing forums, multiple residents have described Ecovillage 1 as having “poor construction quality” and “the worst maintenance in Greater Noida West.”
