SpiceJet, a struggling airline, announced on Tuesday that Ashish Kumar, the CFO, has left the firm after less than two years of employment.
The airline also declared the hiring of Joyakesh Podder, who would take over as the company’s deputy CFO as of July 15.
September 2022 saw the appointment of Kumar as CFO.
With effect from July 15, 2024, SpiceJet announces the appointment of Joyakesh Podder as the company’s new Head of Finance and Dy Chief Financial Officer. In the statement, SpiceJet stated that Ashish Kumar, who held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Head of Finance, had also announced his resignation from the firm.
The firm stated that Podder joined the SpiceJet team in April of this year after receiving an offer for the position. He will oversee the finance division and provide support for the company’s strategic financial goals.
This is his second employment with the airline situated in Gurugram.
According to the airline, the newly appointed post benefits from the extensive knowledge and expertise of a seasoned chartered accountant with over three decades of experience.
Podder has made major contributions to the aviation, hospitality, and telecom sectors while holding a variety of positions with organisations including Go First, Mahindra, Reliance, and the international consulting firm PwC, according to SpiceJet.
SpiceJet revealed on Monday a multi-fold increase in standalone profit after tax for the March quarter of FY24, coming in at Rs 118 crore.
In contrast to the previous year’s profit of Rs 106.82 crore, the airline reported a loss of Rs 301.45 crore for the December quarter of that year.
The airline reported a loss of Rs 409.43 crore for the entire fiscal year 2023–24.
