The two leaders decided to strive towards an early conclusion of a mutually advantageous India-UK free trade deal, according to a statement released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and recently elected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday.
He was congratulated by Modi on taking over and the extraordinary electoral triumph of his Labour Party.
According to the statement, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing and deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UK and remembered the historical ties between the two nations.
Acknowledging the beneficial contributions made by the Indian community to the social, political, and economic advancement of the United Kingdom, they decided to keep fostering strong interpersonal relationships.
As part of their agreement to stay in contact, Modi also invited Starmer to visit India sooner rather than later, according to the statement.
