DGCA Seeks Report From Air India Related to Chartered Barbados Flight

The aviation watchdog, DGCA, has requested a report from Air India about rumours that an aircraft intended for a scheduled flight has been used to transport the Indian cricket team from Barbados, as per sources.

According to accounts, Air India caused problems for passengers when it sent the aircraft, which was originally meant to fly a scheduled route from Newark to Delhi, to Barbados.

In light of this, a top source stated on Wednesday that Air India has been requested to submit a report by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

On Thursday morning, the Indian cricket team that won the T20 World Cup is anticipated to arrive in the nation’s capital. They are travelling on a chartered aeroplane with the unique call sign AIC24WC, or Air India Champions 24 World Cup, departing from Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados.
An Air India representative stated that the Boeing 777’s deployment to Barbados caused no problems for the passengers.
For the July 2 trip from Newark to Delhi, the majority of customers who had purchased tickets were notified beforehand. Nevertheless, several travellers who were not notified of the aircraft cancellation showed up at the airport and were driven to New York by car. The official stated that those passengers were accommodated on the New York to Delhi flight.

Hurricane Beryl caused the cricket team’s departure to be delayed, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organised the chartered flight.
