According to the report, a small number of basic plan subscribers have gotten notices from Netflix. These messages inform them that they will have to select a new plan in order to continue watching once their current membership period expires. If users in these territories want an ad-free Netflix experience, they will have to either choose a more expensive plan or convert to the ad-supported subscription plan.
Additionally, Netflix has taken down the pricing information for its basic subscription from its websites in the UK and Canada. This comes after the site revealed last year that it will no longer be accepting new users from the US, UK, and Canada for its basic plan. Up until this point, though, current subscribers were permitted to stay with their plans. It seems that current Netflix subscribers are also being phased out of the basic package.
Netflix’s basic plan, which costs Rs 199 and lets users stream on one device at a time in 720p resolution, is still available in India. Basic plan customers will have to pick between the more costly Premium and Standard plans or the mobile plan, which is only compatible with smartphones and tablets, if Netflix makes adjustments akin to these in India. The ad-supported Netflix subscription option is anticipated to come soon in India, although it has not yet been announced.
