Stock market holiday: In observance of Eid-al-Adha, commonly known as Bakri Eid, equity markets in India will be closed on Monday, June 17, 2024. The day’s trading activities across all segments, including equity, derivatives, and the Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segment, will be disrupted by the closure of both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). On Tuesday, June 18, trade will restart as usual.
Likewise, on June 17, the morning session of the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) would be closed.
Nevertheless, it will open later in the day for the evening session, giving commodity dealers the chance to take part starting at 5:00 PM and continuing until either 11:30 PM or 11:55 PM.
Asian marketplaces over the Eid holiday
Monday morning’s opening of the Asian-Pacific markets was negative as investors awaited important economic data from China.
The Nikkei 225 index in Japan experienced a 2.17 percent decrease, and the Topix index as a whole saw a 1.89 percent decline. The Kospi in South Korea was trading flat, while the small-cap Kosdaq was exhibiting a 0.13 percent increase.

Next week’s stock market: What can we anticipate?
The BSE Sensex and the Nifty 50 demonstrated strength before to the holiday on June 14, 2024, despite a cautious start. At 76,992.77, the Sensex closed up 181.87 points, or 0.24 percent, while the Nifty 50 finished at 23,465.60, up 66.70 points, or 0.29 percent.
Going forward, investors are anticipated to turn their focus to global trends and the trading activity of foreign investors for market cues, as there aren’t any domestic triggers during the week that is shortened by holidays.
The direction of the market is expected to be determined by changes in the rupee-dollar exchange rate and movements in Brent crude, the global oil benchmark.
