Kolkata Metro’s new rakes from China come with enhanced features for travellers like CCTV coverage inside, wheelchair parking facility and wider evacuation doors, an official said.
Two additional Dalian rakes arrived at the Noapara shed here on May 26, he added, albeit one is already in service.
“These rakes’ improved features will also include CCTV inside the coach. A representative for the fast transit system stated, “What sets them apart in Kolkata Metro are the wheelchair parking facility and door-side handrails.”
“The doors on these rakes are 100 mm wider than those on the AC rakes that are currently in use. In addition, he mentioned that improvements to the air conditioning system, noise reduction features, and increased seating capacity were made with the comfort of the passengers in mind.
Soon, one of the two new rakes will go through a required examination.
The representative stated that eleven more rakes from Dalian are anticipated to arrive throughout the following six months.
He also mentioned the enhanced safety measures, which include an evacuation ramp with non-slip rubber flooring, controlled-discharge fire extinguishers, and disc brake systems.
