A superintendent attached to the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation has ended his life, leaving a suicide note that has put the state’s Congress government in a spot. 48-year-old P Chandrashekaran was found dead at his residence in Shivamogga on Sunday. He was working at the corporation’s office in Bengaluru.
According to sources, he has written in the note about the alleged misuse of large amounts of funds in the corporation and also held some senior officers responsible for his death. The deceased officer has accused his seniors of forcing him to open a parallel bank account to divert money from the corporation’s primary account.
In the death note, he had three officers listed. The names were Padmanabha, an officer in the corporation’s accounts department, and a female officer at Union Bank. Justice is what we seek. He was a man of integrity. Chandrashekaran’s wife Kavitha stated, “He has provided full details about the amounts and account numbers in the death note.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party is demanding the resignation of B Nagendra, the minister responsible for ST welfare. Leaders of the Shivamogga BJP have stated that Chandrashekaran revealed in his note that he got an oral order from the minister to transfer the corporation’s funds and that almost Rs 87 crore had been embezzled.
“Every day, we witness the corruption of the Congress as a government. A suicide note about the transfer of Rs 187 crore into another account has been written by the government officer. It’s permissible to siphon off the money. This administration is terrible and unaccountable. It ought to own up and move on. BJP leader CN Ashwath Narayan stated, “The people are very intelligent, they don’t believe them anymore.”
The minister has conceded that Rs 87 crore out of a total Rs 187 crore had been transferred to an unauthorised account by the accused officers and added that action will be taken.
The CID has been tasked with handling this matter. Our CID representatives have arrived in Shivamogga. We plan to look into the manner in which the funds were moved. There will be objectivity in the probe. We will take action if the MD or any other officials have been engaged. The doctor claims that his sign was faked. It’s been forwarded to FSL. We will act if the matches are found,” Nagendra declared. “This isn’t dishonesty. Misuse of the sum has occurred. We have already retrieved the money, which was moved from one account to another. Of the 87 crore, 26 crore had been retrieved. We’ll take the involved officials to task. We are operating openly and honestly.
