Greater Noida Authority imposes fine of 8 lakh Rupees on UP Jal Nigam and HNB Engineers

Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has imposed a fine of Rs 8 lakh on Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and Noida-based firm HNB Engineers. The Authority’s General Manager Sewer Jitendra Gautam conducted a surprise inspection of different places on Wednesday. This action was taken when flaws were found. He has given one week to remove these flaws else stringent action will be taken.

I lakh rupee fine on HNB engineer

On the instructions of Ravi Kumar- Greater Noida Authority CEO, Jitendra Gautam- General Manager of the Sewer Department along with his team inspected the 20 MLD STP plant located in Ecotech 3. Jitendra Gautam says, “This STP is being operated and maintained by Noida firm HNB Engineers. During inspection, it was found that sludge was not being disposed of properly from the sewerage treatment plant. The cleanliness of the STP premises was not found satisfactory. One pump of the pumping station was found faulty. A fine of Rs 1 lakh has been imposed on the HNB engineer after many other deficiencies were found.

‘Bigger action if flaws continue…’

Jitendra Gautam says that if the flaws are found again on re-inspection, a fine of Rs 5 lakh has also been imposed on Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam. The master pumping station of 137 MLD STP located at Kasna is being operated and maintained by Jal Nigam.

A lot of slump in the STP

During inspection, cleanliness was not found in the sump well of this STP. The flow meter, panel and DG set were found faulty. The cable duct was found damaged. An indicator to measure the level of sewerage was not found in the sump well, due to which a penalty of Rs 5 lakh was imposed on the Jal Nigam. He says, “All these firms have been instructed to remove all the shortcomings within a week. If these flaws are found upon ‘-inspection, more stringent action will be taken.”
