NOIDA: The case has entered its second phase following the death of software engineer Yuvraj, who drowned in a pit dug for a basement in a builder’s plot in Sector-150, Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar district. After Republic Day, the police, authorities, administration, and public representatives have gone into action mode and are focused on restoring public trust. On Tuesday, a review meeting of the District School Transport Safety Committee on road safety was held at the DM Camp office in Sector-27, Noida, with the Member of Parliament in attendance.
Despite the district administration identifying 152 black spots in November and informing the police and the authorities of Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authorities, no action has been taken. This means there are still 152 locations in the district where people can fall victim to accidents at any time. On this, MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma expressed his displeasure. He asked the representatives of the police and authorities present at the meeting to present a detailed report of the actions taken so far.
District Magistrate Medha Rupam had prepared a list of 152 black spots in the month of November after getting information from various sources in terms of road safety. At the same time, after the meeting, the Yuvraj accident site of Sector-150 has also been included in the list of hot spots by the district administration. At the same time, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority, Krishna Karunesh, who has been the focal point of the SIT investigation after the accident, has also given directions to the concerned officials to remove the loopholes.
The temperature in the district court in Surajpur was also high due to the Yuvraj accident. All eyes were on the hearing of the cases of the arrested and accused in this case. Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjeev Tripathi was hearing the bail plea of arrested builder Abhay Singh. The defence lawyers said in their arguments that the authorities and the police were directly responsible for Yuvraj’s death. They were informed about the waterlogging several times. Despite this, no action was taken on them.
According to the information I received, the hearing on the bail petition of the accused builder Nirman Singh was also held today. The court has reserved its decision on all petitions. The significant point was that in the arguments presented by the defense, there was no comment made on the district administration, particularly the District Magistrate. Amidst all this, everyone’s attention in the entire matter is focused on the SIT’s investigation report. Perhaps the SIT will be able to identify the real person responsible for the accident, because so far, no institution or individual is willing to accept responsibility for it.
