Support Beyond Medicine: Five TB Patients Adopted, Nutrition Kits Distributed on World Tuberculosis Day in Noida

Noida: On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, a significant social initiative was undertaken in Gautam Buddh Nagar under the “Sehat Sahi, Laabh Kai” campaign. The campaign is a collaborative effort by the Uttar Pradesh Health Department, SMART NGO and Radio Amity 107.8 FM, aimed at strengthening public health awareness and support for tuberculosis patients.

Adoption of TB patients under the Nikshay Mitra initiative

As part of the programme, District Head (Anti-Terrorism Front) Harveer Yadav and Station Manager of Radio Amity Piyush Vardhan Singh Chandel jointly adopted five tuberculosis patients who are currently receiving treatment at UPHC Bhangel. This adoption falls under the Nikshay Mitra initiative, which encourages individuals and organisations to provide nutritional, emotional, and social support to TB patients throughout their treatment journey.

Nutrition kits distributed to support recovery

During the event, nutrition kits were distributed to all five patients. These kits are designed to supplement the dietary needs of patients, as proper nutrition plays a crucial role in the recovery process of tuberculosis.

The organisers also assured that continuous support, regular follow-ups, and necessary care would be extended to the adopted patients. This sustained assistance is expected to significantly improve treatment outcomes and overall well-being.

Call for collective social responsibility

Addressing the gathering, Harveer Yadav emphasised the importance of community participation in combating tuberculosis.

Fighting a serious disease like TB requires collective effort from every section of society. By becoming a Nikshay Mitra, we can not only provide material support to patients but also strengthen them mentally. It is a social responsibility that we all must fulfil.

Commitment towards public health awareness

Piyush Vardhan Singh Chandel, Station Manager of Radio Amity 107.8 FM, reiterated the organisation’s commitment to public health initiatives.

Radio Amity 107.8 FM has always been dedicated to spreading awareness on critical public health issues. Through the ‘Sehat Sahi, Laabh Kai’ campaign, we are striving to bring positive change in society, and such efforts will continue in the future.

Strengthening treatment and reducing stigma

Currently, all adopted patients are receiving treatment through government healthcare services. This initiative will not only strengthen their access to proper nutrition and care but also help in reducing the stigma associated with tuberculosis by fostering a sense of community support and empathy.

Encouraging public participation for TB-free India

The initiative stands as an inspiring example under the Nikshay Mitra campaign. Residents have been urged to come forward, adopt TB patients, and contribute towards their nutrition and treatment support.

Such efforts are crucial in achieving the national goal of a TB-free India. Beyond medical treatment, community-driven support systems like these play a crucial role in facilitating faster recovery and enhancing the quality of life for patients.

This initiative highlights how collaborative efforts between government bodies, organisations, and individuals can create a meaningful impact, not only in healthcare outcomes but also in building a more compassionate and responsible society.
