WBPSC GDMOs Recruitment 2023: The Public Service Commission, West Bengal, has published Advertisement No. 06/2023, inviting applications for the position of General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) under the Labour Department, Government of West Bengal.
The recruitment drive for General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs) in West Bengal offers a total of 300 vacancies. The vacancies include 102 positions for candidates under the Unreserved (UR) category, 67 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 19 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 43 for Other Backward Classes (OBC-A) under the non-creamy layer, and 29 for OBC-B under the non-creamy layer. Additionally, there are 14 positions reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), comprising 10 for UR candidates and 4 for SC candidates, along with 26 openings for candidates falling under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

WBPSC Recruitment 2023: Qualifications
Applicants must possess essential qualifications, including a medical qualification listed in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, and registration as a medical practitioner in West Bengal. Desirable qualifications include six months of practical training as House Staff in a government hospital or recognized institution.

WBPSC Recruitment 2023: Age Limit
The age limit for ordinary Medical Graduates is not more than 36 years, while those with Post-graduate Medical qualifications should not exceed 40 years as of January 1, 2023.
SC and ST candidates from West Bengal can avail up to 5 years, while OBC candidates (belonging to categories ‘A’ and ‘B,’ and falling under the non-creamy layer) are eligible for a relaxation of up to 3 years. SC, ST, and OBC candidates from other states must apply as general candidates for unreserved positions. Additionally, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities can benefit from age relaxations up to 45 years. In specific cases, political sufferers can also have their upper age limit relaxed by a maximum of 4 years.
