Noida: A growing water crisis in Noida has left thousands of residents across more than 100 sectors struggling to meet their daily water requirements. Disruption in the Ganga water supply and systemic failures within the Jal Nigam have worsened the situation, raising serious concerns about the Noida Authority’s preparedness and response.
Despite repeated assurances from RP Singh, General Manager of the Jal Nigam, residents report that they are forced to rely on 30–40 private water tankers each day. This dependency has become both financially and logistically burdensome.
The authority has access to both Ganga and groundwater resources, yet the infrastructure is in shambles. Most of the pumping systems are outdated, and the pipelines haven’t been properly maintained for years.

Singhal further revealed that during a protest announcement last Saturday, authorities ensured a brief water supply for three hours and even issued a written assurance. However, once the protest had passed, the supply problems returned to their previous status quo.
Key Issues Identified:
Inconsistent and inadequate Ganga water supply
Poor maintenance and ageing water infrastructure
Lack of accountability within the Jal Nigam
Repeated assurances with no sustainable action
Public Appeal and Protest Momentum
Residents are now appealing to the Noida Authority and the Jal Nigam to treat the crisis with urgency. With no clear solution in sight, many families are left dependent on expensive tanker services.
Water is not a luxury, it is a fundamental right. We must raise our vocies and demand what we are entitled to.
