Vidit Gujrathi qualifies to the Freestyle Grand Slam Tour 2025 Paris


NOIDA: To advance to the Paris leg, Vidit Gujrathi defeated Richard Rapport in the Freestyle Grand Slam Tour 2025 Play-in Finals. In the Round of 16, he defeated Ding Liren (CHN), the 17th world champion, 1.5-0.5. Then, in the quarterfinals, he defeated his countryman Pranesh M by the same score. Vidit defeated M. Amin Tabatabaei 2-0 in the semifinals. Vidit secured his spot in the Paris leg, which will take place from April 7th to April 14th of next month, after winning the match 1.5-0.5 in the Finals

The play-in had a total prize fund of $50,000 USD. The top three winners each received $10,000, $9,000, and $8,000 USD. Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, D Gukesh, Fabiano Caruana, Arjun Erigaisi, R Praggnanandhaa, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Hans Niemann, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Vincent Keymer, and Alireza Firouzja are joined by Vidit.
