Noida: The 15th edition of Uttarakhand Mahakauthig, a cultural fair showcasing Uttarakhand’s traditional folk art and handicrafts, was inaugurated at Noida Stadium on Thursday. The seven-day festival will be held from December 19 to 25, 2025. The event was formally inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Pandey, DIG, Gautam Buddh Nagar, who cut the ribbon in the presence of organisers. The inaugural ceremony also included the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by chief convener Rajendra Chauhan, chairman Aditya Ghildiyal and president Harish Aswal.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Pandey praised the efforts of the Uttarakhand community and said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand holds a special place in his heart. He was felicitated with a shawl, a bouquet and Ganga jal by the Mahakauthig team.
The opening ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances, including the traditional Chholiya dance by an Almora-based troupe accompanied by folk instruments and a folk dance presentation choreographed by Bhagwat Manral.
Senior police officials, including ACP Swatantra Kumar and SHO Subodh Tomar, were present at the event. This year, the Mahakauthig has been designed around the theme of the Jageshwar Dham temple, adding a distinct cultural appeal to the venue.
The evening session will feature performances by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Pritam Bhartwan (Jagaar Samrat) and folk singer Naveen Pathak. The fair hosts around 180 stalls offering Uttarakhand’s traditional food items, grains, sweets, garments and handicrafts, along with over 30 food stalls serving authentic hill cuisine.
