The decision of the Telangana HC comes after many candidates along with National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) have filed a petition in the Telangana High Court that no biometric was arranged in the Group 1 preliminary examination and they have given OMR sheets without the hall ticket number. The petition therefore stated that TSPSC Group 1 Prelims exam should be cancelled.
Justice P. Madhavi Devi pronounced the verdict and allowed the writ petition seeking cancellation of the prelims exam for recruitment of Group 1 cadre officers. The court has also ordered to conduct the examination again.
In March 2023, TSPSC announced the cancellation of the Group 1 Prelims exam, which was held on October 16, 2022, due to a paper leak issue. Based on the findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and an internal inquiry, the exam was rescheduled. It was conducted a second time on June 11, 2023, after necessary arrangements were made. However, candidates raised concerns from the beginning, expressing doubts about the proper conduct of the examination.
Some candidates approached the High Court, requesting a postponement of the planned re-conduct of the TSPSC Group 1 preliminary exam. However, the court dismissed those petitions.
