Noida : Residents of Supertech Upcountry, located along the Yamuna Expressway in Sector-17, have raised serious concerns over the mushrooming of illegal hostels and PG accommodations within the township. According to sources, several of these facilities are being operated without official permission, violating both society’s bylaws and safety norms. Locals claim that despite multiple complaints, authorities have turned a blind eye to the issue allegedly due to a nexus between the administration, builder, and a few local operators.
Allegations of suspicious activities
Reports suggest that several of these unauthorized hostels are not just unregulated but have also become hubs of suspicious and unlawful activities. Some young tenants have reportedly faced pressure to participate in inappropriate practices, creating an unsafe environment within society.
These activities are continuing under the very nose of officials, who have so far failed to take any strict action.

Residents demand action from Yamuna Authority
It is estimated that over two dozen hostels and PGs are functioning inside Supertech Upcountry. These operators are believed to be earning huge profits while putting the safety and privacy of permanent homeowners at risk. Several residents have already submitted written complaints to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and the District Magistrate. However, they allege that no concrete steps have been taken to stop the violations.
Growing public anger over the builder’s silence
Despite the growing public outrage, the builder’s management has remained largely silent on the issue.
Residents argue that this silence only reinforces the belief that the illegal operations are being carried out with tacit approval from both the builder and the authorities.
We invested in a secure gated community, but now it feels more like a commercial hostel zone. The administration must intervene before it’s too late.

Visual evidence across the township
Photographs taken from across the township show dozens of villas displaying banners and boards for PGs and hostels, including:
Kunj’s PG
Bhumi PG
Vidarbha PG House
Chandni PG
Others — all located within the residential premises of Supertech Upcountry.
Residents await accountability
While complaints continue to pile up, residents await a decisive response from the Yamuna Authority and local administration. Until then, the illegal hostels and PGs continue to operate openly, raising questions about law enforcement and the safety of legitimate residents.
The threats have reportedly begun from the hostel and PG mafia. One of our society members, who is also the Editor of News Ink, has started receiving threats. A few days ago, an unidentified car even attempted to hit him. His life appears to be in danger for raising his voice against the ongoing illegal activities. We urgently request the concerned authorities to intervene and ensure his safety.

On October 12, 2025, all residents of Supertech Upcountry put up banners stating “Hostels and Bachelors Not Allowed” across the society. However, shortly after, the hostel mafia removed these banners and threatened the residents for taking this stand. Despite repeated complaints, the police have not taken any action so far. We request immediate intervention to remove the illegal hostels and PG accommodations operating inside the society and ensure the safety of residents.
Prashant Shrivasta
We are residents of Supertech Upcountry, and we are living a life of misery due to the illegal hostels and PGs operating inside our society. National newspapers have been highlighting these issues almost daily. Many of us are senior citizens who came here seeking a peaceful and secure environment, but the situation has become unbearable. We urgently request all concerned authorities to take strict action against these illegal establishments and restore peace in our community.
