Greater Noida: The Department of Radiology, School of Medical Sciences and Research at Sharda University, in collaboration with the society of Fetal Medicine, organized a seminar on Wednesday to highlight the importance of maternal and infant care.
During the session, medical experts stressed that with timely ultrasounds, proper check-ups, and precautions during pregnancy, it is possible to detect and treat genetic disorders in unborn children.
Fetal medicine plays a crucial role in protecting unborn babies from risks. Ultrasound provides vital information about the fetus, based on which treatment can be initiated at an early stage, The pregnant women must undergo regular health monitoring, including blood pressure and maternal check-ups, especially in cases of high-risk pregnancies
Dr Krishna Gopal, Vice President of Fetal Medicine
India continues to struggle with high maternal mortality and perinatal mortality rates, which reflect the state of healthcare and development of a country. Fetal medicine can assess risks within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, helping doctors start treatment early or alert parents to potential complications. There is the need to spread awareness in rural areas, where pregnant women often lack access to critical health information.
