Noida: Fraudsters have started adopting new tricks to fool innocent people. This time the fraudster swindled Rs 73500 from a person by luring him to replace his old damaged laptop. The victim has registered a named case against the accused in Sector-126 police station.
Fraud in the name of laptop replacement
Gaurav Varshney, who lives in JP Wish Town in Sector 128, told in the report filed that, on June 10, his Apple laptop got damaged. He searched online on Google. He found a website named The Apple Street on Google. On contacting it, he talked to Harmeet Kukreja. Harmeet Kukreja came to his house and talked about repairing the damaged laptop. After some time Harmeet Kukreja came to his house and after checking the laptop, told that the laptop is dead. Harmeet Kukreja offered him that he would replace his old laptop and for this, he gave him a bill of Rs. 43000.
The fraudster kept on robbing the youth in these ways
After taking the money, he promised to deliver a new laptop in 2 days. On June 11, Harmeet Kukreja called and said that the replacement would cost Rs. 14780 more. On this, he paid this money through Paytm. On June 13, Harmeet took Rs. 6900 from him on the pretext of some problem. On June 15, once again Harmeet Kukreja asked for Rs. 8690 on the pretext of a problem in replacement. On this, he asked Harmeet Kukreja to return his old laptop and then Rs. 64680 was transferred online.
Case registered against the accused
The accused said that he had deposited the money and laptop in the Apple store. After this, he promised to deliver the new laptop on June 17. When the laptop was not delivered within the stipulated period, he once again demanded his money and laptop, on which Harmeet Kukreja sent him a cheque of Rs 169990 through the portal. When he deposited this cheque in his account, it bounced due to stop payment. According to the victim, Harmeet Kukreja has also snatched Rs 7350 and an Apple MacBook laptop from him. On the complaint of the victim, Sector 126 police station has registered a case against the accused.
