Greater Noida : This city is fast transforming into a modern urban hub, but one age-old problem still lingers, open garbage dumping. To tackle this menace, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has stepped up enforcement with stricter rules, heavy penalties, and, this time, the watchful eye of CCTV cameras.
Cameras to catch offenders
Across city sectors and marketplaces, surveillance systems are being put to work. Anyone caught dumping trash in the open will not only face fines but could also see their photographs displayed publicly at sector gates and RWA offices—a bold move aimed at public accountability.

Hefty fines and vehicle seizures
The warning is not just on paper. Recently, a tractor-trolley was caught near Jaitpur while unloading waste in the open. The vehicle was seized on the spot, and its owner was slapped with a ₹50,000 fine—proof that GNIDA is serious about cleaning up the city.
Community participation is key
Officials emphasise that enforcement alone cannot bring lasting change. Citizens are expected to segregate wet and dry waste at source and ensure proper disposal. RWAs have also been asked to support awareness campaigns, helping create a culture of responsibility around waste management.
A city in transition
Greater Noida is changing rapidly, with skyscrapers, wide roads, and ambitious development projects redefining its identity. But true progress goes beyond infrastructure—it lies in how responsibly residents care for their surroundings.
Waste management is not just the administration’s job; it’s everyone’s responsibility. With strict surveillance and active citizen participation, Greater Noida has a real chance to turn its cleanliness drive into a model for other cities. The message is clear—if you still dump garbage in the open, the cameras might just catch you in the act.
