BMW X1 LWB Launched In India At Rs 49.90 Lakh
BMW India has launched the X1 LWB, a stretched, petrol-only version of its entry-level SUV, at Rs 49.90 lakh ex-showroom. It comes in a single variant, the sDrive 15Li, and gets the M Sport styling package as standard.

BMW is also offering a Smart Finance plan starting at Rs 44,444 per month, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Under the scheme, customers can also benefit from an assured buyback value of 60% after four years, subject to the applicable terms and conditions. BMW India Financial Services offers new car loans starting from around 9.90 percent interest, rising to roughly 10.9 percent depending on the borrower’s profile, with tenures running up to 84 months. The maximum loan amount is capped at 85 percent of the car’s ex-showroom price, meaning a buyer needs to fund at least 15 percent upfront regardless of the financing structure chosen. Under BMW Smart Finance, the assured buyback value is calculated at the time of purchase based on the specific model, loan term and expected annual mileage, and locked in against the ex-showroom price. What “LWB” Actually Buys You
The X1 LWB is 116mm longer overall than the standard X1, with 108mm of that added directly to the wheelbase. The result is 109mm of extra rear knee room, the entire point of the car.
Despite the stretch, BMW has kept the proportions balanced rather than visibly elongated. Design carries over almost unchanged: the same kidney grille, swept-back headlamps, M Sport bumpers and 18-inch alloy wheels as the standard X1. The one visible distinction is the window surround, finished in chrome here against a blacked-out treatment on the regular car. (Image: News18)

The Engine
Power comes from a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 156bhp and 230Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
That output is 22bhp higher than the same engine’s tune in the standard X1, making the LWB the more powerful car of the two despite the added length and weight. (Image: News18)

The Curved Dashboard Display
The centrepiece of the cabin is BMW’s large curved display, running the brand’s latest infotainment software across combined driver and touchscreen panels in a single sweeping unit ahead of the driver.
This is the same display architecture BMW uses across its current global lineup, bringing configurable driver information, navigation, media and vehicle settings into one connected surface rather than separate instrument and infotainment screens. (Image: News18)

Driver Assistance And Safety Tech
The X1 LWB comes with Level 2 ADAS, covering functions including autonomous emergency braking and lane-assist systems, alongside eight airbags as standard.
Eight airbags at this price point is a meaningful baseline, and the Level 2 ADAS suite brings the car in line with what buyers now expect from a modern entry-luxury SUV rather than treating driver assistance as a paid option. (Image: News18)

Digital Key And Wireless Charging
The cabin includes a digital key function, letting owners lock, unlock and start the car from a paired smartphone rather than relying solely on a physical key, alongside a wireless charging pad for compatible devices. (Image: News18)

Comfort Features
Beyond the tech, the cabin gets a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate and powered front seats with memory function for both the driver’s position and the exterior mirrors.
The memory function is a small but telling inclusion. It is the kind of feature usually reserved for cars a segment above this one, and its presence here signals how much BMW is packing into what is technically its entry point. The extended wheelbase translates directly into rear legroom, positioning the car for buyers who want to be driven as often as they drive, or who simply want a properly usable back seat for family use. Colours And The Shadow Package
The X1 LWB is expected across a colour range including Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, Carbon Black and Night Dusk Blue, though availability can vary by market allocation.
Buyers can also opt for a Shadow package, which darkens the exterior brightwork and trim for a stealthier look than the standard chrome-accented car. (Image: News18)
