The RPSC RAS exam is a three-stage exam consisting of a prelims exam, a mains exam, and an interview. The prelims exam is an objective-type exam with two papers: General Studies and General Ability. The Mains exam is a subjective-type exam with nine papers: General Studies Papers I and II, Optional Subject Papers I and II, English Essay, Hindi Essay, and Translation Papers (English to Hindi and Hindi to English). RPSC RAS Prelims exam pattern
The prelims exam is an objective-type paper with two sections: General Studies and General Ability.
The Prelims exam is just a screening test. Its marks is not included in the main result. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Examination and Interview Round. There is only one paper in RAS Prelims.

RPSC RAS Prelims syllabus
The syllabus for the prelims paper can be divided into two sections:

  • General Knowledge: Rajasthan current affairs, national and international current affairs, Indian history and civics, physical, social, and economic geography of India and the world, socio-economic, political and cultural conditions of Rajasthan, Indian polity, governance and administration of the State.
  • General Ability: Logical reasoning and mental aptitude, general science and environmental knowledge.

Candidates who are selected in the RPSC RAS prelims exam will be eligible to appear for the mains exam. The mains exam is a subjective-type exam with nine papers.
Subsequently, candidates who clear the mains exam will be invited for the personal interview round. The interview is conducted by a board of experts and is designed to assess the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and knowledge of current affairs. The final selection for the RPSC RAS exam is based on the combined scores of the mains exam and the interview.
Upon selection on the final round, candidates are deputed to various posts in the Rajasthan government administrative services.
