La Residentia, already known for its poor living conditions, has witnessed a maintenance charge increase of 60 paise per square foot, a move residents call unjustified, given the current state of infrastructure and services.
Despite the hike, the society continues to suffer from frequent thefts, an ineffective and under-equipped security agency, insufficient housekeeping staff, and the lack of promised amenities such as a clubhouse and swimming pool. Residents argue that the builder is demanding premium-level charges without offering even basic facilities.
Before any increase, the builder must first ensure essential services and the safety of the residents.

We don’t mind paying maintenance, but it should reflect in the services we receive.
The protest highlighted critical gaps in the society’s management, particularly in areas that directly impact residents’ quality of life.
Why Recreational Areas, Security Systems, and Sanitation Matter:
Recreational spaces, such as clubhouses and parks, are essential for both mental and physical well-being. They promote community interaction, encourage healthy lifestyles, and are especially crucial for children, senior citizens, and working individuals who seek relaxation and leisure within a secure environment.
Robust Security Systems are not a luxury but a basic requirement in any urban residential complex. With increasing urban crime, societies must be equipped with adequate CCTV surveillance, trained guards, and visitor management systems to ensure the safety of residents and their property.
Effective Sanitation and Housekeeping services are critical for maintaining hygiene and preventing the spread of diseases. Clean common areas, well-maintained lifts, and proper garbage disposal not only enhance the society’s appearance but also prevent health hazards.
Residents have issued a firm warning to the builder, demanding an immediate rollback of the hiked charges and urgent rectification of basic services.
The protest saw participation from key residents, including Surendra Ji, Himanshu, Vikas Sharma, Rajkumar, Upendra, Sachin Srivastava, Saurabh, Ajay Singh, Manju Ji, Ratna Singh, Naveen Govil, Himadri, Sharad Shukla, and many others.
