Real Madrid Celebrates Another Champions League Title With Its Fans On Streets Of Spanish Capital

MADRID: Real Madrid is rejoicing with its supporters in the streets of the Spanish city after winning the Champions League for the sixth time in ten years and the second time in three seasons.

A few thousand people showed up on Sunday to greet the club, who had just defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley Stadium to win a record-tying 15th Champions League title.

In the days to come, Madrid supporters may have even more cause for celebration as the team is rumored to be close to revealing the news of the much-awaited signing of Kylian Mbappé, the great player from France who left Paris Saint-Germain and is being pursued by the Spanish superpower.

Fans gathered in the streets to welcome the newly crowned champions as the club left Santiago Bernabeu Stadium atop an open bus carrying players and the coaching staff on their way to meet with government representatives. In 2022, Madrid had previously won the Champions League.

At the club’s customary celebration location in Cibeles Square, thousands were anticipated. Team captain Nacho Fernández was scheduled to drape a Madrid flag and scarf over the statue of the goddess Cybele.

It was anticipated that the players would address the crowd and present the Champions League trophy to them at a packed Bernabeu as the festivities came to an end.

On Saturday, around 80,000 spectators flocked to the stadium to watch the championship game on big screens positioned in the center of the field.

Three weeks prior, Madrid had celebrated their Spanish league title in a similar manner, but they were unable to visit the Bernabeu due to a concert that was taking place there.

Although Taylor Swift performed there a few days ago, the club managed to make it accessible in time for the Champions League final celebrations.
