Ranbir Kapoor’s fans accused of harassing woman who criticised his Ramayana look; morphed her face in ‘obscene’ photos and videos |

A woman who criticized actor Ranbir Kapoor for his stolen photo from the sets of his upcoming film “Ramayana” has been the target of cyberbullying and harassment from purported “fans” in a fairly alarming scenario that transpired on social media.

The woman tweeted at the @mpcyberpolice account, pleading for prompt action against the accounts that had been harassing her and going to unsettling measures to turn her private images into “obscene” films.

The woman implied in a tweet on April 27 that Ranbir’s new appearance as Lord Ram was the same as his “Sanju” and “Animal” personas, in response to a post that criticized the actor for it. She said, “Range so good i can’t even find difference between three characters,” which sparked a flurry of criticism from the actor’s fans online.

After publishing her message, she disclosed that some of Kapoor’s admirers had gone so far as to engage in cyberbullying, turning her images into movies and pictures that would be shared online and damage her reputation.

As a result of the constant barrage of abuse, the woman became so depressed that she tweeted, “now i get why people su!c!d3 over cyber bullying it can affect you so bad mentally.” This was her first indication of thoughts of self-harm.

She shared her distressing experience on her handle, seeking support and help. She continuously tagged the cybercrime unit and provided ‘proof’ in the form of screenshots and URLs to the accounts that posted the modified photographs.

She posted a string of tweets that said, “I am a victim of online harassment and I am reaching out in dire need of assistance.” Without my permission, offensive changes and alterations are being made to my personal photos, which is upsetting and harmful. I’ve included every picture for your reference. I can share the original movies and images in a direct message. These guys have been harassing me nonstop since yesterday, even after I called them out for manipulating pictures indecent videos in a very disgraceful way. These are the links to the tweets that were created today and are still active, despite my complaints and posts regarding the harassment I experienced.”

The impacted user appealed for help from authorities, specifically the cybercrime division, in an attempt to resolve the problem. “I have also filed two online complaints regarding cybercrime, but I haven’t received a response. I can send the original PDFs to dm@mpcyberpolice,” the woman tweeted. I respectfully ask for your prompt attention and cooperation in looking into this. For your reference, I’ve included screenshots and URLs to the altered photographs as proof. In addition, I’m happy to offer any more details or help that’s required. Please take the appropriate steps. Your assistance in this subject is much valued. I’m grateful.
