Raksha Adella : Falling plaster in high-rise societies sparks safety concerns, Residents questions maintenance

Greater Noida West :  In repeat mode, the posh high-rise societies, including Gaur City-2 and Raksha Adela Society are witnessing alarming incidents of plaster chunks falling from upper floors, raising serious safety concerns among residents.

The latest incident occurred in Raksha Adela Society’s Tower D, where a large chunk of plaster from an upper floor crashed through the tin shed of flat number 603’s kitchen balcony. At that moment, a domestic help was working there and narrowly escaped being hit. In another close call, plaster pieces also fell in the society’s park, nearly missing a woman who was out for her morning walk. These repeated incidents have left residents in a state of panic, fearing that such accidents could soon turn fatal.

Residents allege that despite paying regular maintenance charges, no proper upkeep is being carried out. They point to frequent plaster falls as a clear indication of poor construction quality and lack of preventive maintenance. Many have demanded urgent inspections and immediate repair work to prevent a potential tragedy.

We pay maintenance regularly, but no preventive work is being done. Our lives are at risk every day. one resident said.

However, Apartment Owners Association (AOA) president Mahesh Sharma denied having knowledge of the latest incident. He maintained that whenever residents file maintenance-related complaints, action is taken promptly. Still, residents argue that mere reactive measures are not enough, what’s needed are strong preventive steps to ensure safety.

With thousands of families living in these high-rises, the recurring incidents have sparked calls for greater accountability from builders and management bodies. Until effective measures are taken, residents say, their lives remain under constant threat.
