Greater Noida West: In a disturbing incident at Panchsheel Greens-1 society, a woman was seriously injured after a chunk of plaster reportedly fell from the B-2 tower while she was out for an evening walk with her daughter. The incident has once again raised serious questions about structural safety and maintenance lapses in high-rise housing societies of Greater Noida West.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman, aged around 40, was walking near the B-2 tower with her 4-year-old daughter when a chunk of plaster or debris from the ceiling fell directly on her head. She collapsed immediately due to the impact, with blood oozing from her head, and reportedly lost consciousness.

Residents rushed her to a nearby private hospital in Greater Noida West, where she received treatment. Doctors have recommended a follow-up after four days. Family members and residents have demanded accountability from the Apartment Owners Association (AOA), claiming that complaints about falling plaster and crumbling infrastructure have been made several times in the past, but with no corrective action taken.

It was not plaster, but just loose cement powder that fell‘ – AOA

This is not the first such incident reported in society. Residents claim that plaster pieces had previously fallen from the same tower, but the AOA failed to carry out timely repairs. They allege repeated requests for structural inspection and maintenance have been ignored. The AOA, however, issued a statement downplaying the incident, saying, “It was not plaster, but just loose cement powder that fell.

The explanation has drawn sharp criticism from residents, who accuse the management of trivializing a serious safety lapse.

How can you call it just powder when someone ended up in the hospital?

Rising fear among residents

The incident has created a sense of panic, particularly among women, children, and senior citizens who regularly use the common areas for walks and socializing. Many are now questioning whether it is even safe to step outside their homes. Residents have renewed their demand for a structural audit of the entire society, fearing that a more severe accident may be waiting to happen.

Past incidents and complaints

According to residents:

  • On 23rd July, debris reportedly fell from a balcony.
  • On 24th July, another portion of the plaster collapsed.
  • Despite these events, no concrete repair work has been undertaken.

The lack of timely action by the AOA is now under scrutiny. Residents are calling for intervention from the builder, local authorities, or regulatory bodies to ensure basic safety and accountability in managing residential complexes.
