Noida : It was supposed to be a Sunday of relief for Noida residents. The Noida Authority had proudly announced that Sectors 119 and 120 would finally start receiving Ganga water from September, with the 7x sectors lined up for December. But what actually unfolded on the ground was a very different story, one of dry taps, frantic calls for tankers and growing frustration among thousands of households.
A holiday without water
In sectors like 71, 52, 119, and 120, families woke up to little or no water supply. With most people at home on Sunday, the shortage was felt even more sharply. While a few tankers were sent, the stored water didn’t last long, leaving residents scrambling to arrange private supplies just to get through daily chores.
There was no water supply in our sector today. People are yearning for every drop of water; this is the condition of Noida currently. About 10,000 people are troubled, as 80% of the pumps installed around us do not have anyone to maintain them. If they were regularly serviced, the water problem would be solved.

Authority says silt, Residents say neglect
Officials from the water department claimed that the inconsistency in supply was due to heavy silt in the Ganga canal at Haridwar. But for residents, this explanation doesn’t hold up. They believe the real issue is poor infrastructure and a lack of maintenance.
In Sector 52, the situation was no better. Misha Singh, RWA general secretary of Shatabdi Vihar, shared her ordeal:
We faced a major water crisis in E-3 Shatabdi Vihar. There was only 15–20 minutes of supply on Sunday, which was grossly insufficient. When we asked for a tanker, officials said they didn’t have the facility and told us to call private providers instead. Nor are they giving us any timeline for when the supply will be normal. How can we be left like this with no accountability?

Recurring pain, No answers
For residents like Brijesh Gurjar, this is not a one-off inconvenience but a recurring nightmare.
Why is the Authority silent even after seeing the miserable condition of citizens following continuous lack of Ganga water?

Meanwhile, the Noida Highrise Federation, pointed out that even the much-publicized Ganga supply to 119 and 120 never really began.
The announcement was made, but the result was otherwise

A growing crisis
The picture that emerges is one of deep mistrust between residents and the water department. While the Authority continues to promise better days ahead, families in Noida are left to navigate daily life without something as basic as water, an irony, considering that the city lies in the shadow of a multi-crore infrastructure plan.
Until then, the Sunday that was supposed to bring relief will be remembered as yet another day of dry taps, endless complaints and residents asking the most basic of questions: When will water actually flow in Noida’s homes?
