Noida: Currently the residents of Noida and Greater Noida are facing extreme power cuts and rainfalls. The problem is getting serious day by day and the sectors are suffering to the extreme. Sector 122 is a prime example of this.
Cables are getting damaged, transformers are exploding
Most of the equipments installed in all the sub-stations of the electricity department in Noida are of low quality which cannot bear the load of electricity demand. Junction boxes are of 1980’s technology. Transformers explode repeatedly. The cables are getting damaged. Fault finder machines take years to arrive. Cables are still damaged at about 10 places in the sector. Complaints have been made about this for the last 5 years repeatedly but it is beyond the authority of the officials.
Residents of Sector 122 say, “It seems that the contractors of the electricity department belong to mafia families or are influential people who do not even listen to anyone. When they do any work, they leave it incomplete and go away. Complaints have been made about this issue from Sector 122 many times but they do the work of their own choice.”
It takes hours to fix the fault, sheer waste of time
Due to shortage of staff in the sub-station, it takes hours to fix the fault. The salary of the staff is so low that it is embarrassing to hear about it. Their salary is around ₹9000 but their duty is very tough, beyond imagination. They do not even have safety equipments.
If any work has to be done, it takes years to get approval from the Executive Engineer/SDO
For the last three years, we have been hearing that some more transformers are to be installed in Sector 122 but they have not been installed to date. In the A-Block of Sector 122, around 100 plots have been allotted within two years but the junction box has not been installed to date.
So for this reason the residents argue that, if the foundation itself is weak, the building cannot be raised. Implying development is not possible without the basics being in place.
