Noida: Despite being one of the key urban centers adjoining the national capital, Noida continues to struggle with a lack of a robust public transport system, a concern that has plagued residents for nearly five decades since the city’s establishment. In a formal communication addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, the DDRWA Federation has expressed deep dissatisfaction over the continuous delay in launching public transport facilities. The federation highlighted that for the past two years, repeated assurances have been made by the authority regarding the commencement of public transport services, yet no significant progress has been witnessed on the ground.
The absence of an efficient public transport network has resulted in daily hardships for commuters, including excessive travel expenses even for short distances. Residents are forced to rely on an overwhelming number of e-rickshaws and autorickshaws, many of which operate without proper regulation, contributing to rising accident risks across the city.
The federation pointed out that fatalities and injuries due to such unorganized transport are becoming distressingly common, a situation that could be mitigated if a safe, structured public transport system is introduced.
Raising direct questions to Noida Authority CEO Dr. Lokesh M, DDRWA has sought clarity on when the service will be initiated and what ongoing challenges are preventing its rollout. The residents’ body has urged the authority to take immediate and effective measures to resolve this long-pending crisis.
The DDRWA Federation has also assured full cooperation to the Noida Authority in implementing a well-equipped and widely accessible public transport network that aligns with the standards of other major developed cities in the country.
Residents now await concrete action instead of yet another set of promises.
