Greater Noida West : Residents of Nirala Estate have expressed strong disappointment over the builder’s refusal to contribute towards the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, despite the collection of substantial monthly maintenance charges.

According to residents, repeated requests were made to the builder to extend at least a token financial support for the National Festival. However, the builder allegedly declined, forcing residents to pool money from their own pockets once again to organize the event. Similar situations occurred during previous occasions, including Republic Day.

Residents allege that the builder’s reluctance stems from his preference to invite external vendors to set up fairs, rides, and musical events within the society premises — activities from which he reportedly collects significant fees. However, community members oppose such arrangements, citing past incidents of disorder, disputes, and inappropriate music being played, including film songs like “Munni Badnaam” and “Sheila Ki Jawani”, which they say are unsuitable for national or religious festivals.

“We believe such occasions should be celebrated with dignity, cultural pride, and values that inspire our children,” said a resident. “National festivals should unite the community, not turn into commercial events.”

Residents have reaffirmed their commitment to hosting the Independence Day celebrations through their contributions, ensuring that the event reflects unity, respect, and the true spirit of the nation.

Residents of Nirala Estate told Apartment Times that the builder has been showing serious negligence towards the society’s maintenance and welfare, as he remains preoccupied with his two upcoming projects — Nirala Gateway and Nirala Trio. This has sparked strong resentment among current residents, who feel their safety and quality of life are being compromised in favour of future ventures.
