Residents of Amrapali Platinum Society demand accountability after a child was struck by falling debris inside the high-rise complex

Noida: The Noida High-Rise Federation (NHRF) has strongly condemned the FIR registered against the Amrapali Platinum Apartment Owners’ Association (AOA) following the recent accident where a 12-year-old girl was left seriously injured after a brick fell from the 25th floor. NHRF said the FIR was “misdirected” and risked diverting focus from the real issue of high-rise safety.

‘Stand with the family, Push for safety reforms’

“We stand with the victim’s family and wish her a speedy recovery. This accident highlights the urgent need for strict safety measures in high-rise societies. Rather than pointing fingers, authorities must implement corrective steps, enforce accountability, and conduct periodic safety audits to prevent such tragedies.”

Nikhil Singhal, President, NHRF

The human cost of negligence

In a city that prides itself on modern high-rise living, the tragedy has shaken residents of Amrapali Platinum to their core. A young girl, returning from tuition, had no idea that danger was waiting above. A brick piece from the 25th floor came crashing down, striking her head. The impact was so severe that she collapsed in a pool of blood. Rushed to the hospital, she received 10 stitches on her head. Her innocence and routine day turned into trauma within seconds.

For months, residents have alleged that plaster keeps falling, sometimes even iron grills come loose. Out of fear, after GNIDA’s advisory, many societies even asked residents to remove flowerpots from balconies.

But what about bricks and grills ? What was the child’s fault? She was simply walking home from tution. Tomorrow it could be anyone’s child. Are we supposed to live in fear all our lives?

More than property damage, Lives are at stake

This tragedy is not about cracks in plaster or broken grills, but about cracks in accountability. While earlier incidents led to damaged vehicles or minor injuries, this accident has exposed how fragile life is in high-rises when basic safety is ignored.

Builders sell us dreams of sage, luxury living. But when safety nets and checks are ignored, these skyscrapers become death traps.

Larger urban failure

As Noida and Greater Noida West expand with rows of high-rise towers, the dream of luxury living is being overshadowed by fear. Parents worry each time their children step out to play, and families look up anxiously whenever they pass beneath towers. This little girl’s blood-stained walk home is a chilling reminder that safety cannot be compromised. Until builders, authorities, and RWAs take this issue seriously, residents fear that they will continue to live under the shadow of danger, praying each day that their loved ones are not the next victim.

What next? The FIR and investigation

Following the accident, Police registered an FIR naming NBCC (the construction supervisor), Krishna Constructions (the contractor), and the Amrapali Platinum AOA. They have been booked under Section 125B of the BNS Act for endangering life or personal safety.

The FIR notes that there were no safety nets, no barricades, and no warning signs at the repair site. Shockingly, the rear gate near the construction zone was kept open, allowing residents—including the injured child—to pass underneath despite the danger.

Investigators are now probing the roles of all three parties. Residents, however, fear that the case could turn into a blame game while the larger questions of structural audits, safety standards, and accountability remain unaddressed.
