In a resolute display of solidarity and frustration over the recurrent delays in the implementation of the Metro project, the residents of Greater Noida West, in collaboration with the Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA), organized a successful symbolic agitation today. This marks the fourth instance of planning changes surrounding the long-awaited Metro project since the years 2017, 2019, and 2022. As the spectre of the 2024 elections looms, the residents express their growing discontent with the government’s unfulfilled promises and last-minute plan alterations.

The persistent issue of unmet promises regarding the Metro project has fueled the frustration of the residents, prompting them to take matters into their own hands. NEFOWA, along with the residents’ collective efforts, has decided to escalate their agitation by arranging a personal meeting with Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, the Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. This strategic move aims to ensure that the concerns of the citizens are heard at the highest level, demanding accountability and transparency in the planning and execution of vital infrastructure projects.

Taking their cause to the national stage, the residents have planned a mass agitation at Jantar Mantar on December 10th, 2023. This demonstration aims to draw attention to the repeated setbacks faced by the community in their pursuit of a functional Metro system for Greater Noida West. The residents earnestly request the active participation of their fellow citizens in this social cause, emphasizing the need for a united front to address the long-standing issue.

As the countdown to the 2024 elections begins, the residents of Greater Noida West are determined to make their voices heard, holding authorities accountable for their promises and pressing for the immediate commencement of the Metro project. The success of today’s symbolic agitation serves as a testament to the community’s commitment to achieving a positive change for the future.
