“Mirzapur’s” dark plot and nuanced characters captivated the public, sparking an enormous craze for the show’s first two seasons. The third season’s reception, though, suggests that the show’s popularity may be declining. ‘Mirzapur 3’ has reportedly failed to meet the high standards set by its predecessors, according to recent evaluations.
The series’ co-director, Anand Iyer, recently discussed the audience’s conflicted feelings and the disappointment around the fate of several characters in an interview with India Today. The lack of Divyenndu’s favourite character Munna Bhaiya is one of the main areas of discontent among fans. To the dismay of fans who were expecting him to make a comeback in the most recent episode, Munna Bhaiya met his demise in the second season.
Anand Iyer addressed this by highlighting the difficulty of striking a balance between the expectations of the audience and the script’s integrity. “It is impossible to please everyone,” he said, emphasising the unpredictable nature of both reality and the “Mirzapur” story.
Iyer went on to explain, stating, “Characters in a show come and depart in a same way. It’s all about ‘Mirzapur,’ not a particular figure. With fresh turns and twists, the show must continue.” His remarks are indicative of the series’ artistic choices, which strive to maintain a vibrant and captivating plot despite the unavoidable goodbyes to certain characters.
The reasons for Munna Bhaiya’s exit, however, are yet unknown. It’s unclear whether Divyenndu decided not to return for either personal or professional reasons, or if the writers’ intentions for the character’s storyline came to an end. Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Rasika Dugal, and Shweta Tripathi are among the ensemble cast members that remain in “Mirzapur 3.”
