Greater Noida West residents announce March 15 protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding immediate metro connectivity approval.
Greater Noida West: Frustration is mounting among residents of Greater Noida West over the prolonged delay in metro connectivity to the densely populated region. In a significant move, thousands of residents under the leadership of NEFOWA have announced a large-scale peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar on March 15, 2026, to draw the attention of the Central Government.
Residents say their voice is not reaching the centre
Despite being part of the NCR, residents claim that their concerns have not been effectively addressed by the Central Government. They say the only way left is to protest in Delhi so that the Prime Minister’s Office and senior officials become aware of the ground realities in Greater Noida West.

The region, home to lakhs of residents living in high-rise societies, continues to struggle with severe traffic congestion. Daily commuters spend hours stuck in jams, leading to significant losses in time and fuel, along with rising stress and health concerns.
Allegations of file delays and route rejections
Residents have also raised concerns over what they describe as repeated delays at the central level. They claim that while metro expansions have been approved in relatively less populated areas, the proposal for Greater Noida West remains pending.
Abhishek Kumar, President of NEFOWA Foundation, stated:
Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Uttar Pradesh government approved the metro file and forwarded it to the Central Government. Since then, the file has remained pending. The DPR has reportedly been rejected three times and routes have been altered. Currently, the file is reportedly held at the PMO level. Due to this delay, residents are facing immense inconvenience. On March 15, thousands of us will reach Delhi to raise our voice.”

Residents hope for swift approval
The upcoming protest will push authorities to grant approval for the metro expansion at the earliest and clear the long-pending project.
Dipanker Kumar, Member of Nefowa, Resident GNW

NEFOWA has appealed to all residents, media representatives and members of the public to participate in what they call a “just and necessary demand” to secure metro connectivity for Greater Noida West.
