Man Injured In Firing Near Congress Poll Rally In Amritsar, Punjab CEO Seeks Report

The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer requested a police report after a man was hurt in a shooting incident that happened close to Congress nominee Gurjit Singh Aujla’s polling station.

Five persons fired shots, according to the police. They argued that because the incident happened outside from the polling place, it has nothing to do with the election rally.

The victim has been identified as Lovely, according to Ajnala Station House Officer Balbir Singh. Lovely said in a statement that he was heading to attend a Congress electoral rally when he was attacked around a hundred yards from the rally site. The five suspects have already been named; according to the police, they felt it was a matter of personal animosity because three of them were Ajnala village inhabitants and the other two were outsiders.

According to the SHO, police teams have been sent out to apprehend the offenders. Sibin C, the CEO of Punjab, requested a report on the Ajnala fire incident from the Director General of Police (DGP).

The CEO has written to the DGP in response to a complaint made by Gurjit Singh Aujla, the Congress party’s candidate for Amritsar, requesting that he provide a fact-based report as soon as possible so that the Election Commission of India is aware of it. In a different letter, the CEO requested a report on the actions taken from the District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner in Amritsar, requesting that he look into the situation right away.
