Greater Noida: In a powerful and symbolic protest, homebuyers of Mahagun Mantra-2 have launched a unique campaign titled Thali Bajao, Prabandhan Jagao to demand their long-pending property registries. Despite making full payments and receiving possession over three years ago, dozens of families are still deprived of legal ownership.
Gathered outside the Mahagun Group office in Noida on Saturday, residents—men, women, and senior citizens- banged steel plates to demand justice. Their collective voice echoed a deep frustration against what they called “years of false promises and silence.”
‘We’re not agitators, just helpless homebuyers’
We are not protestors by choice, but by compulsion,” said a female buyer.
Homebuyers
“We dreamed of owning a home, not protesting on the streets. But when no one listens, banging plates is all we have left.
Senior citizens who joined the protest said they had invested their lifetime savings into these flats and now feel betrayed and powerless, living without ownership rights.
‘Home is ours, but rights are not’
Buyers say they have paid 100% of the flat’s cost, possess all documents, and are even repaying home loans. Yet, without registration, they have no legal standing over their property.
We can’t sell, rent, or transfer the loan. We are like tenants in our own homes,” said another buyer.

Buyers’ Demands:
- Immediate initiation of the registration process
- Declaration of a fixed registry date
- Public clarification if any legal or administrative hurdles exist
- Strong intervention from the Greater Noida Authority and the district administration
Calls for Administrative Action
The protesting residents appealed to district authorities to take strict action against the Mahagun Group. Many said they are preparing a formal memorandum for the Chief Minister’s office and may organise a sit-in protest at the Greater Noida Authority if the issue is not resolved.
Builder Management’s Silence
When we tried to reach out to Mahagun representatives for comment, no official statement was given. The only response buyers have received so far is:
We are working on the registration process and a solution will come soon.
‘The Sound Won’t Stop Until Justice Is Delivered’
Buyers have vowed to continue weekly protests in creative ways if their concerns are still ignored. Ideas like a “Black Badge March” and “No Tax Day” are already being discussed within resident groups.
The situation at Mahagun Mantra-2 is not just about one project—it reflects a systemic issue affecting thousands of homebuyers across India’s real estate sector. When homeowners are denied legal ownership even after fulfilling all financial and contractual obligations, their trust in the system erodes.
Authorities and policymakers must recognize: a property registry is not a formality—it is the proof of dignity and rightful ownership.
