Lotus Boulevard: Police officers made citizens aware of three laws

Noida: Bringing a major change in the criminal justice system of India, three new laws, the Indian Justice Code (BNS), Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) and Indian Evidence Act (BSA) have come into force in the country from Monday.

To give knowledge about the new law, the police officers posted and Police Commissioner Gautam Buddha Nagar held meetings with the officials of the societies and RWAs of the sector and the residents and gave them detailed information about the new law as well as answered common questions.

On the instructions of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, ACP Noida-One Praveen Kumar, under the leadership of DCP Noida Rambadan Singh, organized a seminar with the officials of Lotus Boulevard Society located in Sector-100 of Police Station Sector-39 area and made everyone aware of the three new laws.

Giving detailed information about the important changes made in the three new laws (Indian Justice Code, Indian Civil Defense Code, Indian Evidence Act-2023). The police officers said that the new laws have been made for the convenience of the general public. With the help of all the three new laws, the victims will get quick justice and the investigation will be disposed off quickly and qualitatively.

In the new code, 175 existing provisions of the IPC have been changed and 9 new sections have been added. It has 358 sections. The old IPC had 511 sections. The new law has abolished sedition and included treason. Its section 150 deals with acts that endanger the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India. 9 provisions of the CrPC have been abolished.

9 new provisions have been introduced with changes in 107 provisions. There are a total of 531 sections, the old CrPC had 484 sections. He said that five existing provisions of the existing Evidence Act have been repealed. 23 provisions have been changed and one new provision has been added.

There are a total of 170 sections in the new evidence law, which were 167 in the old one. Laws have been made more sensitive in crimes against women. The police will have to record the statement wherever the victim wants. In the case of rape, the punishment will be from a minimum of 10 years to a maximum of death. In case of gang rape, there is a provision of 20 years imprisonment upto death sentence.
