Noida: A crucial coordination meeting was held with DCP Traffic Manisha Singh and ACP Shakeel Mohammad to address growing traffic congestion and rising road accidents across Noida. The meeting focused on long-term infrastructure improvements, strict enforcement and immediate corrective action on traffic violations. Several important decisions were taken during the discussion.

Major decisions from the meeting

DCP Traffic Manisha Singh acknowledged that smooth traffic movement in the city requires structural changes in road design. Special emphasis will be laid on eliminating unnecessary U-turns and traffic bottlenecks. For this, cooperation will be taken from RWAs and resident federations at the ground level.

Wrong-side parking was identified as one of the biggest causes of road accidents. It was agreed that strong awareness drives, along with strict rule enforcement, are required to curb this practice. To ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during peak hours, it was stressed that roads must remain free from damage and bottlenecks. Necessary work will be carried out in coordination with the Noida Authority.

Lane driving was highlighted as a critical factor in accident prevention. To enforce this effectively, more traffic personnel will be deployed on highways during peak hours. Due to road engineering issues, several U-turns and footpaths require improvement. Continuous meetings are being held with the Noida Authority, and in the next meeting, support from DDRWA Federation will also be taken.

Illegal parking was termed the most significant contributor to traffic jams. The Traffic Department has already intensified challan drives and the number of challans will be increased further to eliminate unauthorised parking.

Regarding frequent congestion at Sector 52 Metro Station, DCP Traffic directed Traffic Inspector Dinesh Pawar, who is posted at one of Noida’s busiest intersections, to take strict action against wrong-side driving and illegal parking without leniency.

Immediate action taken on ground

On the same day, Traffic Inspector Dinesh Pawar was seen taking prompt action along with the DD RWA Federation. A joint survey of roads and U-turns was conducted and enforcement action was initiated against traffic violators. At Sector 52 Metro Station, 15 challans were issued for wrong-side driving. One tempo and one e-rickshaw were impounded for violations.

Three-wheeler drivers were strictly warned against incorrect lane parking and wrong-side driving. They were informed that continued violations would lead to the impounding of their vehicles. At the BDS Market in Sector 51, 25 vehicles were challaned for unauthorised parking to address persistent congestion caused by illegally parked cars and three-wheelers.

A major bottleneck outside Sector 51 Metro Station was jointly inspected by the DDRWA team and Traffic Inspector Dinesh Pawar. A video of the issue was sent to Noida Authority Deputy General Manager Vijay Rawal with a request to repair the footpath and take corrective measures to ease traffic congestion.  The Traffic Department has assured continued coordination with RWAs, federations and the Noida Authority to ensure safer and smoother traffic movement across the city.
