Selection process
As per the notification, the selection process involves two stages: first, the shortlisting of candidates, and then the selected candidates will participate in the SSB Interview. The merit list will be compiled based on the marks attained by candidates in the SSB interview, categorized by their engineering stream or subject. If multiple candidates have the same SSB marks, priority will be given to the older candidate in terms of age. If both SSB marks and age are identical among candidates, the one with a higher percentage of marks in their qualifying examination will be ranked higher in the merit. Factors like higher educational qualifications and past performance will not influence the selection process. Candidates on the merit list who meet the stipulated stream-wise vacancies and are medically fit will receive joining letters for pre-commissioning training at IMA Dehradun, provided they meet all eligibility criteria as set by the organisation.
Post-selection
Candidates who are selected will undergo training at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. Their placement in the final order of merit, categorised by engineering stream, will determine their training allocation, subject to meeting all eligibility requirements as set by the organisation.
The training period spans 12 months and is fully covered by the government. However, if a Gentleman Cadet is withdrawn from the Training Academy for reasons other than medical grounds or circumstances beyond their control, they will be required to reimburse the training costs, which currently stand at ₹16,260 per week as of 2023, with adjustments as per future notifications.
The expenses borne by the state will be reclaimed from candidates who choose to withdraw for personal reasons.
